Musicourt "Carlos Santana" Max Roach" Willie "Wilcox"

Willie Wilcox Drums Back story. This was a concert we played at Forest Hills tennis stadium. I had a blast playing with all the various artists on this show. I will say the highlight for me and the full circle moment would come on the Santana song shown here. There are two drummers. Willie Wilcox myself and my early childhood idol Max Roach.I owned every record that Max Roach played on as a kid. He was an iconic jazz drummer. I watched him play live in my hometown of Glens Falls New York and attended a drum clinic that he put on as the 15 year old "John Wilcox." (aka willie) After we played with Santana I shared the story with Max about going up to his hotel room and knocking on his door and getting his autograph and asking him how he played the figure 8 brush pattern that he used. Max smiled and was very gracious and told me that I sounded great and had it all.That was my full circle moment.Sometimes life just comes together!!!
