The WAAF Set List

Hey I'm Mike Hsu and this is the WAAF Set List, a weekly wrap up of all things rock and more.   Pearl Jam has posted a countdown clock on it's website this week with no explanation to what they are counting down.  All rumors point to new music from a recently finished album that may or may not be called "Tides" and may or may not be released on October 8.  We may be hearing a new song called "Mind Your Manners" at the end of the countdown...or not?   Tool fans if you've been waiting for new music the wait is over! Kind of... The folks at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star who've transformed the music of Pantera, Slayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Guns and Roses into sweet lullabies for you little sleepy Rocker, have given the same treatment to Tool.  Lull your restless infant to sleep with the soothing sounds of "Stinkfist", Sober, and Schism when the collection hits stores on July 16.   Avenged Sevenfold used an on-line scavenger hunt to release details of their upcoming album including the title, release date and artwork.  Hail To The King will be out on August 27.  Singer M. Shadows says it will have a Led Zeppelin/Black Sabbath feel to it. Nothing wrong with that.   The Two surviving members of the Doors, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore have put their differences aside and are planning to do a live tribute to their former band mate Ray Manzarek, who passed away last May.  Krieger told Rolling Stone that they plan to do a big send-off show as well as try to re-release the two albums the Doors made after the death of former singer Jim Morrison.   Motorhead has cancelled it's remaining 6 summer festival dates so that the almost indestructible lead man Lemmy Kilmister can continue to recover from various medical problems.  A few weeks ago he had a defribulator installed in his chest to help his Rock-n-Roll heart.  Then he suffered a hematoma.  And recently he injured his hip to the point of being immobile.  According to a Motorhead press release Lemmy is improving and hopes to be back on the road soon....in the words of Neil Young, "It's Better To Burn Out Than To Fade Away"   And finally, competitive eater Joey Chestnut broke his own record at the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on the 4th of July by eating 69 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.  Chestnut broke his previous record of 68 set in 2009.  On the women's side it was once again the uncanny 100 lb Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas who sucked down 45 dogs in 10 mins.  That totally beats the 4 dogs I had on july 4th..but I also had a few beers...and a steak..and a couple of cheeseburgers..and an Italian ice..and some watermelon, and corn..and..I think I ate a roman candle...   And that's the waaf set list, see updates every week right here at waaf.com, also, check out our twitter feed, Facebook Page, and subscribe to out youtube channel for more videos.
